– SI.com’s Jon Heyman reports arbitration-eligible RHP Rafael Soriano has been traded to the Rays. The deal is pending a physical, which probably won’t go down until Thursday or morning or afternoon. It’s not yet clear who the Braves are getting in return, though RHP Jesse Chavez’s name has been thrown around. Soriano should contend for the ninth-inning job in Tampa Bay. He had a 2.97 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 102/27 K/BB ratio in 75 2/3 innings this past year. Soriano also signed on to a one-year/$7M.

– In an interview with John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, agent Jeff Borris acknowledged that OF Barry Bonds’ career is over.

“It’s two years since he played his last game, and if there was any chance he’d be back in a major-league uniform, it would have happened by now. When 2008 came around, I couldn’t get him a job. When 2009 came around, I couldn’t get him a job. Now, 2010 … I’d say it’s nearly impossible. It’s an unfortunate ending to a storied career.”

Even though Bonds, 45, hasn’t played since 2007, he still hasn’t technically retired. There’s some who believe that he could still be an offensive force as a designated hitter, but we’ll never know. He finishes his brilliant and controversial career with 762 home runs (first all-time), 1,996 RBIs (third all-time) and a .444 on-base percentage (sixth all-time).

– The Astros have signed 3B Pedro Feliz to a one-year/$4.5M deal.

– The Red Sox have acquired RHP Boof Bonser from the Twins for a PTBNL. After missing all of last season recovering from surgery to repair tears in the labrum and rotator cuff of his pitching shoulder, Bonser was designated for assignment on Tuesday by the Twins to make room on the 40-man roster for RHP Carl Pavano, who accepted the team’s arbitration offer.

– The Jays and Giants are negotiating a deal with the Pirates for C Ryan Doumit. RHP Jeremy Accardo’s name has been thrown around as a potential return price.

– The Jays are currently negotiating a deal with OF Joey Gathright.

– The Rockies are nearing a two-year deal with C Yorvit Torrealba.

– The Royals have released 1B Mike Jacobs and LHP John Bale.

– The A’s have released RHP Santiago Casilla.

– The Mariners have signed INF Josh Wilson to a minor legue deal.

TNA

– With reports coming out that Spike TV is a bit nervous about how TNA iMPACT! will perform on Monday, January 4th head-to-head with WWE RAW for the first time, Hulk Hogan sounds pretty confident he’ll make an immediate impact and is is setting the bar pretty high.

“Everybody (at Spike) was scared of their own shadow. ‘What if we don’t do a number?’ The thing is, I said, ‘Don’t even worry about it. You have to give the audience a choice,’”

During an interview on the “Right After Wrestling” SIRIUS satellite radio show, Hulk Hogan predicted that Nielsen ratings would triple to a 3.0 on his debut appearance on TNA Impact on Monday January 4.

Hogan said he sees “something there” with guys like AJ Styles and Matt Morgan and wants to “bring to life” the TNA superstars who he feels have that “it” factor.

The full interview will air on “Right After Wrestling” on Monday night December 14 at 11pm EST on SIRIUS Channel 98, Hardcore Sports Radio.
