Matt Morgan Returning to WWE?, Howard & Bynum Updates

NBA

– Magic’ F Dwight Howard still wants to leave the team, a source close to Howard tells SheridanHoops.com. While the source here isn’t the most reliable, Howard’s displeasure with the team is well known. Sheridan lists the Nets, Mavericks, Knicks, Clippers and Lakers as teams that “would appeal” to Howard, meaning that we actually haven’t learned anything new at all. Sheridan cites the source as saying Howard wants out now “more than ever” in order to start a new chapter in his career. Stay tuned.

– Lakers’ F Andrew Bynum said “I’m not sure” when asked about his future with the team. The Lakers have a $16M team option for Bynum next season, but they’ve already said they’ll look into extending his contract. Bynum added that he would “definitely want to be a Laker,” but admitted that it’s up to the team and that he’ll “play anywhere.” The Lakers have until June 30 to exercise the option on Bynum’s current contract. Bynum averaged 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks during a breakout season.

– The Knicks are expected to announce Mike Woodson’s new contract with the team sometime “this week,” a source tells the NY Post. President James Dolan had reportedly asked Woodson to switch agencies to CAA (a firm with power inside the organization), and now the final details of Woodson’s new deal are being ironed out. Of note, CAA represents Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, team personnel director Mark Warkentien and assistant GM Allan Houston.

NFL

– The Seahawks have acquired TE Kellen Winslow from the Buccaneers for a conditional 2013 7th-round pick. The pick can upgrade to a 6th-rounder based on Winslow’s performance. Tampa was never going to get anything good for Winslow, so the fact that they got a pick, rather than having to release him outright, must be considered a win. Winslow, who turns 29 before the coming season, finished 2011 with 75 catches for 763 yards and two touchdowns after battling knee injuries.

– Lions’ MLB Stephen Tulloch (left knee tendinitis) can’t put any weight on his left leg. Head coach Jim Schwartz said, ”He had tendinitis and we did an injection to settle it down. He’s not weight-bearing (on his leg) right now. We will get it settled down and there won’t be surgery or anything like that.” Schwartz would only confirm that Tulloch will be sidelined through May, but he’s not expected to participate in June’s minicamp.

WWE

– WWE may be teasing the return of Matt Morgan to the organization as the TNA Wrestling star is briefly shown in their latest viral video stating that “A Revolution Is Coming” on May 28. The video features a close-up shot of Morgan from 2005, who last worked for the sports entertainment organization that year. Though Morgan’s contract with TNA Wrestling does not expire until October, he is believed to be a free agent after meeting his contractual obligations. Morgan stated last month during an interview with PWTorch Livecast that while’s he loyal to TNA Wrestling, it would be difficult to reject going back to WWE if the opportunity presented itself. He added that WWE has expressed interest in acquiring him. Here’s the picture revealing Matt Morgan is the man behind the Revolution:

– WWE has released a list ranking the Top 50 WCW Superstars of all time. The list only covers WCW’s Ted Turner era (1988-2001), only takes into account WCW accomplishments and is based on “everything from longevity to cultural impact.” WWE Hall of Famer and longtime WCW announcer Jim Ross noted on Twitter that he had some input on the feature, but had nothing to do with the actual rankings: “I only wrote 2 bios…Terry Funk and Brian Pillman…I had zero to do w/the rankings…Interesting list.” Here is WWE’s list of the Top 50 WCW Superstars of all time.
