***BREAKING NEWS*** Yankees’ Mariani Rivera Suffers Torn ACL

MLB

– Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi announced following Thursday’s game that RHP Mariano Rivera (right knee) was diagnosed with a torn ACL. Rivera is scheduled to head back to New York to meet with team doctors, but his season is likely over, and there’s a very real chance that he’s thrown his last pitch in the MLB. Rivera was carted off the field after injuring the right knee while shagging fly balls during batting practice Thursday. Witnesses say the all-time saves leader was “writhing in pain” after the injury,” though he was smiling as he was taken off on the cart. The 42-year-old has a 2.16 ERA, five saves and an 8/2 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings of work this season.
