TNA Teases, Increases Stupidity

So I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but TNA president Dixie Carter has a Twitter account, as does the founder of TNA, Jeff Jarrett. Which is great – it lets fans get into contact with TNA, which helps the product. The more accessible it is, the more one is drawn to it.

That said, getting a Twitter account is just about the only good thing TNA has done in quite some time. For a while, Dixie has been giving teases and small spoilers into what new “changes” and “surprises” that TNA has coming up. The latest one – the one and only Tommy Dreamer, which, as you’d expect, upset many fans. No offence to Tommy Dreamer, but seriously, he’s going to help? Dixie likely realized that her teases were upsetting her followers and eventually took it down a notch and told people that this big surprise was not a change in creative or a new debut, but rather, a series of changes that would become apparent over the course of several weeks. As TNA continues to push for these new changes, their show, iMPACT!, has seen nothing significant done to it. TNA is currently pushing some kind of “extreme invasion” that they want spearheaded by Paul Heyman, both from a creative and mouthpiece perspective. Heyman has now publicly shot down the concept and has stated what it would take to get him to sign on the dotted line, so we’ll have to wait and see if Dixie is able to meet them.

So, let’s collect our thoughts here: Paul Heyman + extreme invasion. Essentially, a 2010 version of ECW.

Meanwhile, Dixie continues drive my sanity out the window with teases on her Twitter page, posting the following:

“Oh, if you guys only knew who I met with today….. You will.”

Who she…met? Who gives a crap who she met!? For all I care, she could’ve met Lady Gaga while riding the Oscar Meyer weinermobile to an Ozzy Osbourne concert. I just don’t care. Ever. Dixie is living proof of the phrase, ‘all talk, no walk.’ She does so much hyping and talks so much about everything, and what happens? Tommy Dreamer. Everytime I see this twit Tweet, I see some crap about changes and how TNA is revolutionizing the wrestling industry, yet they continue to use the same writers on the creative team who produce the same 0.8-1.2 cable rating.

Not helping is Jeff Jarrett, who seems to share Dixie’s infectious teasing.

“Just received some huge news!”

“Huge news is happening today and tomorrow…”

Later, he posted several photos as “hints” as to what the news might be. The first photo appears to be a shot of an island, the second photo is of a giant spotlight, and a third photo shows an airplane wing. I’m really not making this up. In all seriousness, this is totally random. It’s like they took it out of Family Guy or something.  Three random things, more or less unrelated to each other, thrown together.

TNA needs to get their act in gear. They’reosing money. People are speculating that TNA may not exist at this time next year. Hell, Midway took a chance at TNA’s first video game and it bombed so badly, they went down faster than a hooker on a Friday night. Although I hate TNA’s guts, and I hate many of the people running it as well as performing for it, I really want them to do well – it’s the only thing that’ll push WWE to air the best possible product it can. After all, the point of two wrestling companies competing against each other is to generate the best product possible. The signings of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have contributed absolutely nothing. Everytime I tune into Impact (not often), I’m stuck through another speech about how the dynamic of TNA is changing, but the only thing changing is that 4 old guys are running the show and taking time away from their performers. Bottom line: quit teasing unless you’ve got something solid. If you’re announcing TNA is revolutionizing the wrestling industry by getting tripled/quadrupled by Raw every week for 4 months in cable ratings before you guys head back to Thursdays with your tail between your legs, save it, we’ve heard it all before.
