RUMOURS

– The Oilers continue to talk to Sens F Dany Heatley, but he has yet to waive his NTC.

– Trade talks between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins surrounding a deal involving D Tomas Kaberle and F Phil Kessel as principles, are *not* back on, despite rumours of the contrary.

RDS reports that F Saku Koivu has heard from a couple of teams today but is waiting to see what the Canadiens do, as he would like to return to Montreal.

–  Sens F Dany Heatley has yet to decide on his future. The Oilers are still very much in play, as he has not 100% refused to be dealt to Edmonton. The Rangers remain a candidate.

– F Alexei Kovalev has not re-signed with the Canadiens – yet. They are working on an extension. Some say they’re close to signing, other say to grab a cup of Joe.

– The Sens are in a holding pattern until they get Heatley sorted out.

– Leafs GM Brian Burke is in Europe, believed to be trying to lure G Jonas Gustavsson to Toronto.

– The Flames are not looking for more big names after signing D Jay Bouwmeester. Re-signing RFA F Dustin Boyd is the team’s top priority.

– The Canucks have about $10.8M in cap space left.

– F Marian Gaborik has turned down a 10-year/$70+M deal from the Wild.

– It is not expected that G Jonas Gustavsson will make a decision today, but rather in the coming days.

– Nothing new on the Dany Heatley front. Edmonton’s top priority is finding a new goalie.

TSN reports that Leafs GM Brian Burke wants to make a splash today. Burke might be looking at some of the players he had on the Ducks.

– The Blue Jackets have begun contract extension talk with F Rick Nash.

– The Capitals will begin contract negotations with F Nicklas Backstrom and F Alexander Semin.

– The Habs are targeting F Martin Havlat.
